After Muna officially announces that she is taking the case, the news spreads faster than expected.
Rumors begin around the city.
No one knows exactly what is happening, but everyone senses that something has changed.
Two days later, a letter arrives at Ahmet Bey's library.
On the envelope is the name of one of the city's most well-known law firms.
Münir opens the letter carefully.
Inside is a formal warning, claiming that the documents are unverified and misleading.
I expected this, Münir says calmly.
But it will not stop us.
When Muna reads the letter, she smiles.
This is a sign that they are worried, she says.
If there really were nothing here, why would they react so quickly?
That same evening, someone arrives at Elif's house.
He is a man in formal clothing, speaking in a polite but cold voice.
My family would like to meet you, he says.
To clear up this misunderstanding.
Elif hesitates.
Münir looks at her and nods slightly.
If you want to go, I will go with you, he says.
The next day, Elif and Münir meet with the family's representative.
It is a calm but tense conversation.
The man, a member of one of the city's most influential families, speaks politely but firmly.
These documents, he says, could be misunderstood.

The truth is more complicated.
Münir stays calm.
Then, he says, you can explain that complexity in court.
A brief silence follows.
A flicker of tension appears on the man's face.
There is no need to make this bigger than it is, he says.
We could reach a suitable agreement.
Justice is not an agreement, Elif says, her voice stronger than it has ever been.
My father was lost for forty years.
That is not something money can fix.
The man rises without another word, nods politely, and leaves.
Once outside, Elif's hands are trembling, but there is a new strength in her eyes.
