Who sent the message? Why did the tower light up that night? And what does 'Only you can see this' mean? As soon as Lena reads the message, she doesn't call; she texts back, fast and clear. Five minutes. By the park.
Büşra smiles. Lena has always been like this; she doesn't ask questions, she just comes. The park is deserted this early in the morning. The two girls lean over the phone, zooming in on the photo again and again, as if staring at it long enough might explain it. Is this real? I don't know, Büşra says.
But the number isn't saved anywhere. Without saying another word, Lena takes out her phone and calls Nail. Nail picks up after the fifth ring, his voice still thick with sleep, until he sees the photo. Okay, I'm coming, he says, and hangs up without even asking where. He already knows. Nil's reply, when Lena writes to her, is a single line.
Taking my camera. By the time the whole team has gathered, Büşra notices something strange. No one has laughed it off. No one has called it a joke. They've simply come, quietly, without questioning a thing. That should be comforting.
Instead, it makes her a little uneasy. While Nail is examining the photo more closely, Lena suggests calling Ahmet Bey, the librarian who seems to know more about the city's history than anyone else alive. It is too early to call him, Büşra says. He is always up early anyway, Nil replies. Let's just go. The library hasn't opened yet, but Ahmet Bey is already inside, moving between the shelves as he does every morning.
They knock on the glass door. He opens it with his usual calm expression, as though visitors at this hour were nothing unusual. This early? He is not surprised, just curious. Büşra holds out her phone. Ahmet Bey looks at the photo for a long moment, his eyes narrowing slightly.
Come inside, he says slowly. His voice has changed.
