In one of the old quarters of Konya, surrounded by narrow stone streets, there stands a century-old clock tower.
Nobody knows exactly why it has been closed for decades, and no one can enter it anymore.
The people of the city rarely talk about it, as if it had been forgotten, as if it had never existed.
Years ago, people used to walk past the tower every morning without even glancing at it.
Children used to tell each other strange stories about the lights that sometimes were said to flicker inside.
But the older the stories got, the less anyone believed them.
Still, the tower is standing there today, quietly, as if it were waiting for something or someone.
Local historians have studied the building for years, hoping to find out why it was sealed.
But the truth has never been discovered.
Some say a terrible accident happened inside.
Others wish they knew more, but no documents have ever been found.
It is the oldest and the most mysterious building in the city.
It is older than the mosque nearby and more mysterious than any other place in Konya.
Although the tower looks abandoned, those who pass by it at night sometimes feel as if they are being watched.
The tower stands between two narrow alleys, under a sky that rarely seems to change.
If you ever walk past it after midnight, you might notice something strange.
A faint light moves slowly behind the highest window.
No one has ever explained it.
And no one, it seems, ever will.
